BitsaboutMe is a young startup in the Personal Data Economy based in Bern. Before becoming an entrepreneur and starting his own company Christian was CEO of ricardo.ch and sold the company to Tamedia. He worked at eBay International in various senior strategic and operational roles for 8 years and has spent 5 years in Management Consulting with McKinsey & Company. He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from MIT and had a passion for data and analytics throughout his career. Besides working on BitsaboutMe he serves as a non-executive board member and startup coach.

 

Christian will talk about starting a company in Bern, attracting tech talent and the challenges of near-shoring.

Nikola will tell us about his diverse experience working from Serbia with clients from Sillicon Valley all the way to Australia. He’ll touch on the current situation on the Serbian IT market, and why you should or should not work with Serbian companies.

Today 500 employees in six locations in Switzerland, Germany and Serbia work in multi-disciplinary teams for our clients success. In 2014 Namics d.o.o. was incorporated in Belgrade, Serbia as the first non-German speaking Namics office. Moving through temporary and co-working space today we are proud of our office location right on Knez Mihailova where 37 frontend, backend, and mobile software engineers as well as designers work and where we annually grow by around 15 FTE.

 

Markus will tell us about the very beginning of the evaluation process for a new Namics location, as well as building an employer brand in a new market. With nearly 20 years of German-speaking history there are certain challenges that need to be addressed when working together in remote teams, especially if you aim for one principle: one company.
